Water Purification Bottle

We want people to have a fighting chance if the water supply becomes disrupted or contaminated so we selected the best, most practical individual water purification system for our emergency preparedness program.  The Water Purification Bottle is completely portable, ideal for everyday use and better than buying bottled water. Take it to work or school, fill it with water from the sink or fountain. Excellent when you travel, it will purify the local water (to include the water in resort hotels outside the United States) to EPA and NSF standards. Great for all types of sports and recreation, backcountry hiking, etc. We hope you will never find yourself in an emergency, but if you do, you will be prepared to obtain safe, clean water from any freshwater source.

The system will remove e. coli to 99.9999%, and cryptosporidium and giardia to 99.98%, plus volatile and synthetic organic compounds, inorganics, chlorine and chlorine residual. Those standards are better than tap water. Click here to see the contaminants that the unit will remove.

The Water Purification Bottle will also remove all bad taste from the water. The water always tastes fresh and crisp.

Scoop water from any freshwater source (river, farm pond, lake, mud puddle, etc.) and drink immediately; no waiting, no pumping.

The rugged 24 oz. clear plastic bottle has an easy-open, water-tight toggle top with a pop-up drinking straw. It comes with three replaceable pre-filters (two are spares).

In an emergency, disaster or relief operation, it can typically take 3-10 days to get a water system back into operation. This is the period when people are most at risk from contamination, diseases and illnesses.

What are the chances of water supply contamination in the United States? The chances are pretty low. But, read about water-borne disease and the 1993 cryptosporidium contamination of Lake Michigan, which infected hundreds of thousands of residents in Milwaukee, in the February 2002 edition of National Geographic. And, as reported in The Washington Post on November 22, 2002:

Outbreaks of disease from drinking water...have risen dramatically in recent years despite improvements in publicly operated water systems.

What will you do if the water supply is disrupted in an emergency or if the water supply becomes questionable? Where will you get safe drinking water? Remember too that although it is usually safe, water from the tap after a storm or disruption in service will probably taste bad and contain high levels of chlorine; the filter in this unit will remove the bad taste, chlorine, chlorine residuals and the trihalomethanes. That is particularly important for pregnant women.

The unit is manufactured and assembled in the USA. It is currently used by US military and international humanitarian relief organizations.

How frequently does the unit need to be cleaned? This Water Purification Bottle is maintenance-free: all components are manufactured with the patented AgION antimicrobial compound that suppresses surface bacteria, germs and mold and the system never has to be cleaned, serviced or sanitized.

How long does the unit last? The bottle and non-filter components do not wear out and do not need to be replaced. The pre-filter will function unless it becomes clogged by dirt or sediment from very muddy water. You do not have to change the pre-filter unless water flow becomes constricted; two spare pre-filters are provided in case you use muddy or high sediment water.

The primary filter actually does not ever have to be replaced if the unit is used routinely (e.g., daily if under non-emergency conditions) or if the water is contaminated with sediment, bacteria (e.g., cholera) or microbiological organisms (e.g., cryptosporidium, e. coli, giardia). The primary filter will purify 60 gallons of water that has been contaminated with synthetic or volatile organic compounds (e.g., solvents, benzene). We recommend you change the primary filter after 60 gallons or two months if the unit has been contaminated with synthetic or volatile organic compounds, or used in an emergency situation where the water has been genuinely contaminated.

You can store the unit indefinitely, wet or dry, whether or not it has been used; it does not degrade over time.

The Water Purification Bottle has been tested using state- and EPA-registered laboratory test protocols and meets or exceed standards.
